Social Connections: Bridging the Gap

Description: The Social Connections: Bridging the Gap program aims to foster meaningful relationships and combat loneliness among individuals. By creating inclusive and engaging social environments, we strive to provide opportunities for participants to connect with like-minded peers, share experiences, and build lasting friendships. Through a variety of activities and events, we aim to empower individuals to feel valued, supported, and integrated into their community.

What should I expect from the programme?

The Social Peers Program aims to improve the child’s social pragmatic skills when
communicating and interacting with others. The main goals include:

  • Better focus of the child in group settings with peers
  • Improving understanding of social rules and social cues
  • Ability to initiate and maintain interactions with peers
  • Shaping of positive communicative behaviors with others at home and at school
    The child may need more than one package to master the social communication goals. The
    therapist would advise on necessity to continue another package based on your child’s
    condition.

What are the criteria to enroll this programme?

Your child is encouraged to enroll the program if he/she is:

  • 4 to 12 years old
  • Verbal and has more than 2 words utterance
  • Ready to learn in group
    Please seek for therapist’s advice if you are unsure whether your child can benefit from the
    programme.

How is the program conducted?

This program is conducted based on our comprehensive social pragmatic modules. The
modules are constructed based on 3 modes of developmental learning in every session,
which include books, role play and board games to achieve the social communication goals.

SOCIAL PEERS GROUPING FAQ

  • Is an assessment compulsory to enroll for the grouping?
    If you are the existing client with our speech therapist, you can get their advice accordingly.
    If you are new client or has never attended speech therapies at WQ Park, an assessment is
    needed to evaluate your child’s language and communication baseline in order to determine
    the suitable grouping session for him/her.
  • How many children and therapist are involved in one grouping?
    Maximum 4 children with 1 therapist will be involved in the group.
  • Can I choose to enroll per session?
    Unfortunately no. As it contains modules which requires continuous participation to expect
    the progress and compatibility of partners in the group, we advise the clients to abide the
    group till the program ends.
  • Can I get a replacement if my child is absent?
    Yes, with valid reasons and document references such as medical certificate. Maximum 2
    sessions can be replaced and subject to availability.
